Preparation Prior to Initiation of Body Cooling
Please note: The following represents a summary of the most important information needed to operate the Blanketrol II Unit. It is not meant to replace the Manufacturer’s Operation Manual and all staff operating the system need to familiarize themselves with the Manual. Refer to Section 3, CSZ Operation Manual for complete operating instructions.
A. Collect all equipment and supplies near the infant’s bedside
strainer. If needed, carefully add distilled/sterile water.
C. For each set of connecting hoses, attach to both a return and an outlet coupling on the unit side panel. Connect the other ends of the hoses to the like-colored couplings on the blankets. Hoses should not be twisted.
D. Be sure that the unit power switch is OFF prior to inserting the 3-prong plug into a properly grounded hospital grade receptacle.
E. Blankets should be flat and two clamps OPEN to allow blankets to fill.
F. Turn power switch ON. Water will be circulated to the blankets.
G. Check that there are no leaks in the blankets.
H. After the blankets have filled, once again check the level of distilled/sterile water in the reservoir. If needed, carefully add distilled/sterile water.
I. Set the Celsius/Fahrenheit switch so that Celsius is displayed.
J. Pre-cool the blanket by first operating in the Manual Control Mode.
