Conclusion of Blanketrol II Use
When the cooling/re-warming therapy is complete and the unit is turned OFF:
- Permit the blankets and hoses to remain connected to the unit for about ten minutes. This allows some of the water to drain back into the unit’s reservoir.
- Discard the single-use esophageal probe. Remove the probe adapter cable from the unit’s patient probe jack and store in the unit’s front panel storage drawer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the power source, loosely coil and attach to the unit’s back panel.
- Close the clamps on the blanket tubes; disconnect infant size blanket from the connecting hose and discard the blanket. Loosely coil that connecting hose and strap to the Blanketrol unit’s back panel. The adult size blanket may be re-used, (as it was not in contact with the patient), at least once more. It may remain connected to its connecting hose; fold blanket and store, draped over the Blanketrol II unit.
